It’s Friday and I’m Feeling Alright

It is finally Friday and I am really excited about it. I’m not going to beat about the bush, this week was rough. I have gone to bed late and worried each night and woken up tired and stressed each morning. Mostly, I did this to myself since only I get to pick how I feel about my week but this week, I was less than stellar at managing my reactions to my life.

The good news, is that this week is just about over and I can decide at any time to feel different. I’m deciding today to feel better. To relax. To practice gratitude.

I overslept this morning which meant that I took a later ferry into work. It. Was. Beautiful. My pictures don’t do it justice but I thought I’d share them anyway. I decided instead of worrying about being late, that I would appreciate the view I don’t get to see every day.

My commute on the ferry is often spent with my head down, working away. It’s my time to focus. It’s quiet and calm and I’m effective. This morning though, I got to appreciate the beauty I so often miss because it’s still dark out during my usual ferry. Instead of trying to frantically catch up on emails, I looked out the window and collected my thoughts.

Friday is usually a celebration of the end of the week. I relish sleeping in and catching up on my “home” life. Today though, I’m going to celebrate the day a little differently. I’m going to be thankful that even during rough weeks, I have a beautiful commute that can help me reset how I decide to react to my day. Tonight is date night so I have a loving evening to finish off a productive and calm day.

And when I get home, I get to snuggle and love up on these guys:

Life is beautiful and I have no business being anything but grateful, thankful, peaceful and happy regardless of what day of the week it is.

What are you grateful for?
